Pune, Maharashtra: With dental healthcare rapidly embracing advanced diagnostic technologies, the demand for trained professionals who can operate sophisticated imaging equipment has never been greater. Responding to this growing need, SOVAKA Lifesciences (OPC) Pvt. Ltd. has launched a Dental Radiology Technician Training Program in Pune, offering aspiring technicians an opportunity to gain practical experience inside functioning diagnostic centres while addressing a long-standing skill shortage in the sector.
Backed by Nidaan’s 40-plus years of expertise in dental and oral radiology, the initiative has been developed to create a pipeline of skilled professionals capable of supporting the expanding use of Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) and Orthopantomogram (OPG) technology across Maharashtra.
Bridging an Overlooked Workforce Gap
While dental clinics and diagnostic centres have increasingly invested in advanced imaging systems over the past decade, the availability of trained technicians has remained limited. According to SOVAKA, this imbalance has been observed throughout Nidaan’s decades-long journey in dental radiology.
The company believes that conventional classroom-based training often leaves graduates unfamiliar with real clinical environments. To overcome this, its newly launched program places practical learning at the centre of the curriculum.
Instead of simulated labs, trainees work within operational Nidaan CBCT & OPG centres, where they interact with live patient workflows, modern imaging equipment and experienced clinical teams. This immersive approach is intended to help students understand the technical, operational and professional standards expected in diagnostic practice.
Learning Through Real Clinical Exposure
The one-month training program has been structured to provide comprehensive exposure to the everyday responsibilities of a dental radiology technician.
Participants receive instruction in patient positioning, OPG imaging techniques, CBCT workflows, FDI tooth numbering, Frankfort plane alignment, TMJ positioning, radiation safety practices in line with AERB guidelines, and digital imaging systems including DICOM and cloud-based PACS platforms.
Rather than focusing solely on theoretical concepts, the curriculum emphasizes practical competence, enabling trainees to develop confidence while working with real equipment under professional supervision.
Inclusive Eligibility for Aspiring Professionals
SOVAKA has kept the eligibility criteria intentionally accessible to encourage participation from a wider talent pool.
Candidates aged 18 years or above who have completed Class 12 are eligible to apply. Applicants should possess basic computer knowledge and be comfortable understanding training material in English, Marathi or Hindi.
Notably, the program does not require a science background. Students from Arts, Commerce, vocational studies and other educational streams are equally welcome, and prior healthcare experience is not mandatory.
The company says it places greater emphasis on qualities such as discipline, professionalism and a willingness to learn than on academic specialization.
Focused on Pune’s Local Talent
Admissions for the current batch are limited to candidates from Pune and nearby areas.
Since training is conducted inside operational diagnostic centres with limited daily capacity, SOVAKA has chosen to adopt a regional model that allows closer coordination between students and clinical teams.
The objective is to develop a skilled local workforce capable of supporting the growing demand for dental imaging services within Pune and neighbouring districts.
Employment Opportunities Within a Growing Network
The training program has been designed with career readiness as a primary outcome.
Students who successfully complete the course and demonstrate strong performance may be considered for employment opportunities across the expanding Nidaan and SOVAKA network. Potential roles include CBCT Technician, OPG Technician, Radiology Workflow Coordinator and Diagnostic Centre Operations Executive.
Graduates will also be included in the SOVAKA & Nidaan Certified Professionals Registry, allowing employers to verify their certification and training credentials.
Supporting Expansion Across Maharashtra
The technician training initiative complements SOVAKA Lifesciences’ ongoing expansion of Nidaan CBCT & OPG centres through its Franchise-Owned, Company-Operated (FOCO) model.
Designed for dentists, healthcare entrepreneurs and diagnostic operators, the franchise model combines partner investment with centralized operational support from SOVAKA, including radiology staffing, standardized workflows, cloud-enabled reporting and technology management.
The company currently supports six operational centres, performs over 1,000 CBCT scans every month, and provides reporting through a centralized team of Oral & Maxillofacial Radiologists, with turnaround times of 12 to 24 hours.
As the network expands, graduates from the technician training program are expected to play a key role in staffing these facilities.
Advancing the Future of Dental Imaging
For SOVAKA Lifesciences, the training program represents more than a standalone educational initiative. It forms part of the company’s broader vision of building a connected dental imaging ecosystem that integrates advanced technology, standardized clinical operations and skilled human resources.
The company continues to invest in cloud-enabled PACS infrastructure, AI-assisted reporting solutions and teleradiology capabilities aimed at improving diagnostic efficiency and accessibility.
By combining workforce development with technological innovation, SOVAKA aims to strengthen the quality of dental imaging services while creating meaningful career opportunities for aspiring professionals.
Applications for the Dental Radiology Technician Training Program are currently open on a rolling basis, subject to batch availability. Eligible candidates from Pune and surrounding regions can apply through SOVAKA Lifesciences’ official training platform.
